Using the LCD on the camera is a pain-in-the-a** for this. Check the forums on the Helicon website as some people have had problems with the remote focus software. You can set up to 15 exposure steps, which is more than most cameras allow, and as many focusing steps as needed. This allows you to create images with HDR and an extended depth of field.

I use my tethered android tablet in live view to compose, focus, and then shoot at the appropriate moment. With Helicon Remote you can combine exposure bracketing (HDR) and focus bracketing (DoF). I use an el cheapo Hama remote, works well. Why not just use a regular wireless remote? It doesn´t cost much and doesn´t interfere with the tethering if you disable shutter button AF. Yes, EFCS is Electronic First Curtain Shutter. Helicon Remote è semplice da impostare e configurare, anche per chi non abbia esperienze precedenti con questo genere di applicativi. I posted this question in the HR forums and the developer replied that he did not know if EFCS would work with HR - which I find incredulous since HR supposedly "supports" the D810.
Have any of you D810 + Helicon Remote users figured out if HR will be able to use EFCS iwith the D810 when using it in tethered mode? I currently use my D800 tethered to my Android tablet, but want to take advantage of EFCS in tethered mode when using long glass to reduce vibrations.
